Jude holds an MA in Media Studies and Journalism from Rhodes University, a Bachelor of Technology degree in Journalism from the Durban University of Technology (Technikon Natal), a national diploma in Journalism (Durban University of Technology), a diploma in graphic design and multimedia (Allenby College).

Jude is a seasoned journalism and new media educator with over 20 years of experience. He currently serves as a lecturer and undergraduate coordinator at the Department of Media and Communications at Nelson Mandela University, where he was awarded the Humanities Teacher of the Year in 2021. Jude's scholarship focus is on new media and journalism. He has produced or contributed to book chapters, conference papers, and studies on topics, including BigTech and media studies, the evolution of freelance media work, digital teaching and learning, print media in South Africa, media development and sustainability, and media convergence.
